The Cabbage Patch Executive Director Announcement

A message from Cabbage Patch Board President Bill Meyer:

It is my pleasure to bring you an exciting announcement from The Cabbage Patch! After a comprehensive succession planning and search process that began in February 2018, we have identified our first new Executive Director in more than 35 years!

The Reverend Dr. Corey G. Miller will succeed Reverend J. Tracy Holladay, M. Div., who is retiring after serving The Patch since 1984. Corey’s term will begin on January 6, 2020, kicking off a significant year as The Patch celebrates 110 years of serving Louisville’s youth and families.

Reverend Dr. Corey G. Miller

The Cabbage Patch’s main focus area for growth is the College Scholars Program, which helps low income students prepare for college and earn their degrees without financial debt. Corey will oversee the completion of a comprehensive campaign to support the expansion of the program from the current 35 college students to a projected 50 by the year 2025. Consider a donation to this life-changing program; it’s easy to do online! Corey’s tenure will begin with working alongside Tracy for 3-4 months to ensure the transfer of institutional knowledge.

“Children and families who depend on The Patch’s college scholars program, athletics and arts programs, family case management, summer camps and other services can be assured that I am committed to advancing and improving this already strong organization,” says Dr. Miller. “It is my honor to serve the next generation of Louisville’s leaders by fostering equity, empowerment and self-sufficiency.” – Corey Miller

Corey’s experience includes:

Vice President of Development and Communications, Boys and Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana

Executive Director of Smart Start and Director of Philanthropy at Crisis Control Ministry (North Carolina)

Executive Director of Development and the Foundation for Forsyth Technical Community College (North Carolina)

Associate Minister within the United Methodist Church

Education:

Doctor of Ministry from Drew University

Master’s degree in public administration from the University of Kentucky

Master’s degree in divinity from Duke University

Bachelor’s degree in political science from Sewanee

Family:

Married to Elizabeth (Beth) Miller, a Medical Physicist with Norton Cancer Institute

Son Caldwell is currently at Rhodes College and will begin service in the Navy upon graduation

Thank you for being a faithful supporter of the children and families of the Cabbage Patch.

P.S. Mark your calendar for a celebration of Tracy Holladay’s service to The Patch on April 23, 2020. More details will come soon!
