Pages of Inspiration
Braylin* has been struggling with Non-Traditional Instruction, and frustration led her to the Behavior Intervention Specialist’s office recently. She and Ms. Micah were going to talk through some of the issues she was having when Braylin saw a magazine on the desk. “That looks just like you,” Braylin said to Ms. Micah as she studied the beautiful woman on the cover. “It is me,” Ms. Micah replied. Setting a Path for our Future on Kwanzaa!
If you visited The Cabbage Patch during Winter Break, you may have seen lots of decorated candles and children writing letters very thoughtfully… what was this about? Why, Kwanzaa, of course! When Will We See You Again?
The Cabbage Patch Board of Directors is a diverse group, and each Board member brings a very unique set of talents and connections to our mission. The Patch’s reading program was created after it was identified that many of our elementary school members were behind in their reading skills by at least a grade level. Because these students struggled with reading, books were no fun. We wanted to put the excitement and adventure back into reading, and foster a sense of dedication and commitment when it comes to learning.

We Call it Learning, They Call it Fun!
We once asked a longtime Cabbage Patch member what first drew him to our programs. He said his grandmother was looking for a safe place for him to play and learn, but all he needed to hear was that there was a gym where he could play basketball.
